Getting from Bangalore to Coorg
Kodagu, also known as Coorg, is the best destination for those looking to explore the nature while in India. Coorg is known for its beautiful scenery and mountain ranges, which attract visitors from all over the world.

The closest railway station is in Mysore, about 100 km away. Also, Mysore is served by a domestic airport but there aren’t any flights from Bangalore. In fact, Bangalore’s airport is the closest international airport to Mysore.
The buses are definitely the best choice for this route , with a travel time of about 6-7 hours. You’ll save some time if you travel by train and then bus from Mysore, but that needs a bit of extra planning.
Trains and buses from Bangalore to Coorg
Should you prefer to travel by train to Mysore, then you’ve got 21 trains to choose from, although not all of them run daily (15 of them do, though). The first train leaves Bangalore at 2 a.m. and the last one at 11:55 p.m. The travel time is between 2 ½ h and 4 h, depending on the train. On the express trains, the general rate is Rs 41 , while if you choose an AC car, then the rate starts at Rs 248. On the way back, catch the trains at Mysore between 00:30 a.m. and 11:55 p.m. The same fares apply.
Slightly further from Coorg is Mangalore Junction (MAJN), but it can be a good connecting point if you cannot get a ticket to Mysore.

Lots of buses are available from Mysore to Coorg. You can even book tickets online here . For example, you can catch one of the buses that leave in the evening (at 9:30 p.m. or 11:40 p.m.) . Prices aren’t available online unless you log onto the respective website (the cost is about Rs 80 – info via various forums). The travel time is about 2 ½ h.
Other option to get from Mysore to Coorg is hiring a taxi, especially when you are traveling with several friends (and you can split the cost).
Buses from Bangalore to Coorg
The same company mentioned above, also runs buses directly from Bangalore to Coorg. Evening buses leave at 9:01 p.m., 9:45 p.m., 9:53 p.m. and 11:11 p.m. Unfortunately, prices aren’t available unless you log onto their website.

Taxis from Bangalore to Coorg
Yes, you can even travel the entire distance – about 7 hours – by taxi. Rates start at Rs 1800 for a non-AC taxi and up to Rs 4000 for an AC taxi.
Driving from Bangalore to Coorg
A simpler option, in this case, is to rent a car and drive the 260 km between Bangalore and Coorg. You can avoid Mysore , if you want to and for that choose NH 48. The travel time is about 5 h 10 min.
